President Donald Trump of the United States and Russia's Vladimir Putin are scheduled to hold talks in Alaska on Friday, August 15, as revealed by the former president through his Truth Social platform.
Trump posted: "Next Friday, August 15, 2025, I will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Further specifics will follow. I appreciate everyone's interest in this important discussion."
Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Putin, verified the August 15 Alaska summit, noting that the leaders will primarily explore pathways for a sustainable peace agreement regarding Ukraine. Ushakov added that Russia anticipates hosting Trump and Putin for their subsequent meeting.
A senior White House official informed CBS News that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might also participate in the discussions.
Meanwhile, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of Russia's RDIF, urged cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing joint efforts in Arctic environmental conservation, infrastructure, and energy initiatives.
