During the night of July 11, Russian forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles. The attack was reported by the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, 10 people were injured, including one child. Missile impacts were recorded in three districts of the city, where fires broke out afterward.
Ukrainska Pravda reported that the first explosions in Kyiv were heard even before an air raid alert was announced.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the strike targeted military-industrial enterprises in Kyiv involved in drone production.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 12 missiles overnight: six Iskander missiles, four guided air-launched Kh-59/69 missiles, and two Kh-31 anti-radiation missiles. It did not specify how many of them were aimed at Kyiv.
Ukrainian officials said only two of the 12 missiles were intercepted. In recent weeks, Russia has intensified ballistic and cruise missile strikes on Kyiv.
The attacks come amid reports that Ukraine is facing a shortage of interceptor missiles for its air defense systems.
