Authorities in Russia’s Rostov Region said that the Sambek Heights museum complex had been hit by a drone. According to regional governor Yuri Slyusar, the UAV crashed into the building of the military history museum.
The governor said that at least 12 people were injured in the incident. He added that 10 of them were taken to hospital.
Slyusar stated that the drone struck the main group of buildings housing the information and exhibition center. After the impact, he said, the aircraft did not explode, and no fire broke out at the site.
The governor also said that the museum exhibition had not been damaged, according to preliminary information.
Slyusar did not provide any photos or videos confirming these claims.
Later, the Russian Investigative Committee announced that it had opened a criminal case under the article covering a terrorist attack.
