12 injured in Kyiv after overnight shelling, two killed in missile strike on Odesa

As a result of Russia’s shelling of Kyiv on the night of July 11, 12 people were injured, according to Ukraine’s National Police and Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Among the wounded were two children aged 10 and 11. Damage was recorded on both banks of the Dnipro River.

Emergency services said a three-story office and warehouse building was hit in the Sviatoshynskyi district, while in the Darnytskyi district a strike hit the roadway. In the suburbs, a fire also broke out at an infrastructure facility covering 4,000 square meters.

Serhii Bratchuk, a representative of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, said on Kyiv24 that the city was attacked with six ballistic missiles launched from Russia’s Bryansk region near the border, which is why they were not intercepted. Ukraine’s Air Force also reported ballistic missiles that were not shot down in its overnight summary, without directly naming Kyiv.

“Most of the targets were intercepted by our defenders, but not the ballistic missiles,” Volodymyr Zelensky said. He added that he expects partners to fulfill promises made during the NATO summit, including agreements on licenses for “Patriots” and a joint European anti-ballistic defense project.

The Russian military said the targets of the strikes on Kyiv were two drone production facilities. It also reported attacks on three ports in Odesa region: Pivdennyi, Chornomorsk, and Izmail on the Danube near the Romanian border. Izmail’s administration said there were no casualties, and no injuries were reported after the fire in Chornomorsk.

Later in the morning, at about 10:45 a.m., a missile strike hit Odesa. Authorities said two people were killed, and one teenage boy was wounded. A column of smoke was visible over the city, and the outlet Dumskaya reported a strike on a civilian infrastructure site.

In Kharkiv, a drone strike on a warehouse in the Nemyshlianskyi district injured seven people. One more person was injured in Chernihiv region and two in Sumy region. At 2:17 p.m., the report was updated to say that the number of injured had risen.
