The Khabarovsk Regional Court on July 17 sentenced 46-year-old Alexey Detychev, a former deputy chair of the Khabarovsk branch of the Red Cross, to 14 years in a maximum-security penal colony in a treason case under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code. The regional courts’ press service reported this.
The new sentence followed a review of the case. Under the initial ruling in May 2025, Detychev was given 4.5 years in a general-regime penal colony under Article 275.1 on covert cooperation with a foreign state. The charge was later reclassified as treason, and the case was sent back for a new hearing.
According to the prosecution, in 2023 the Khabarovsk resident contacted a representative of a “foreign state unfriendly to Russia” and, in exchange for political asylum, agreed to pass on information that could have been used against Russia’s security.
According to the court press service, Detychev did not admit guilt. An earlier official statement on the case said that he sought asylum in the United Kingdom and, according to the authorities, offered to conduct anti-Russian propaganda among young people using his access to educational institutions.
In 2023, posts in Detychev’s Telegram channel mentioned his appearances at schools, colleges, and universities in the Khabarovsk region. He was also accused of collecting information about military products manufactured by enterprises in Khabarovsk’s defense-industrial complex. The official statement did not name the enterprise involved.
