Russia’s FSB and Investigative Committee said on June 26 that a 17-year-old teenager had been detained in Dagestan in connection with an alleged plan to carry out school attacks and mass killings of students.
According to the Russian security services, the detainee created and administered communities that had been designated as terrorist organizations. The Investigative Committee said investigators believe he was trying to recruit other teenagers to attack schools, commit mass killings, and make false bomb threats.
Investigators also claim that the teenager’s actions were coordinated by უკრաիnian security services. In a video released by the Investigative Committee, the detainee says that officers of the SBU took part with him in running a network of communities and Telegram channels.
According to the teenager, the targets included schools not only in Russia but also in other countries, including Europe and the United States.
During questioning, according to the video, he also said that in January one member of the organization carried out five arson attacks in Texas, after which, he claimed, the organization caused the evacuation of all schools in Texas and later schools in California.
The Investigative Committee said the teenager also confirmed involvement in organizing an attack on students at Domodedovo Secondary School, which, according to investigators, was prevented. Russian security services additionally stated that videos, photographs, and recruitment texts were allegedly “produced in Kyiv.”
According to the security services, investigators seized an archive of messages with alleged accomplices from Russia, the United States, and European countries. Charges have been filed against him.
