73% of surveyed Russians said that Vladimir Putin is doing a “rather good” job in his role as president of Russia. This was reported in a study by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), which works with the Kremlin.
A week earlier, FOM said that 76% of respondents viewed Putin’s performance positively, while 74% said they trusted him.
The share of respondents who believe he is doing a “rather bad” job rose by two percentage points to 13%. The share of those who said they do not trust Putin increased by three percentage points, reaching 17%.
As the outlet Agenstvo noted, the number of respondents who said Putin was doing a “rather good” job was the lowest since February 25–27, 2022. At that time, the figure stood at 71%.
Other polling centers are also recording a decline in ratings. On April 30, the independent Levada Center published the results of its own survey. According to those findings, the share of Russians approving of Putin’s performance fell below 80% for the first time since the mobilization announced in the fall of 2022.
The state-run Russian Public Opinion Research Center, VTsIOM, for its part, recorded declining support indicators for Putin for seven consecutive weeks. According to the latest published figures dated April 24, 24.1% of respondents said they did not trust him, while another 23.3% said they did not approve of his work.
New survey results were not published on May 1, because that day is considered a public holiday in Russia.
