Starting September 1, the basic military training section of the school subject “Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland” will be significantly expanded. According to the Ministry of Education, this block will account for half of the course program.
At present, basic military training makes up about 20% of the OBZR curriculum. This means the share of that section will increase by 2.5 times.
The ministry also said that from the next academic year, Russian schools will introduce a new subject called “Spiritual and Moral Culture of Russia”.
The OBZR course was introduced in schools on September 1, 2024. It replaced the earlier subject “Fundamentals of Life Safety”.
Earlier, other changes to the content of OBZR were also reported. In particular, it became known that schoolchildren would be taught during these classes how to assemble drones and operate them.
