Ukraine reports losing one MiG-29 in Poltava region, while Russia says two such fighters were destroyed near Voznesensk

The Ukrainian Air Force said that during the night of June 27, it lost a MiG-29 fighter jet that had been carrying out a combat mission in the Poltava region.

According to the Ukrainian side, the pilot ejected safely and was hospitalized. No further details about the incident were provided.

The Russian Defense Ministry, for its part, reported a different strike on June 27. According to Moscow, Russian drones destroyed two MiG-29 fighter jets as well as Ukrainian ground support equipment at the Voznesensk airfield in the Mykolaiv region.

The Russian side also circulated a video that appears to show one burning aircraft.

Ukrainian authorities did not comment on Russia’s statement or on the footage it released.

The two sides’ statements therefore refer to different episodes and different regions: Ukraine reported one lost aircraft in Poltava region, while Russia said two MiG-29s were destroyed at an airfield in Mykolaiv region.
