The Khabarovsk Regional Court sentenced a local resident to four and a half years in a general-regime penal colony in a case over publications on the social network Odnoklassniki. The information was released by the press service of the courts of Khabarovsk Krai.
The man was found guilty under articles covering calls for extremism, actions against state security, and the rehabilitation of Nazism. According to investigators, the criminal case was based on several posts he had published.
Investigators said the defendant, acting “out of hatred for law enforcement officers,” posted material calling for violence against security personnel. He was also accused of publishing a video that, in the investigators’ view, encouraged members of the security services to disobey orders from their superiors in the event of a “popular uprising.”
A separate episode involved an image that investigators considered to be a “desecration” of the Saint George ribbon. That publication was also included in the charge of rehabilitating Nazism.
The man did not deny that he had posted the materials, but he did not admit guilt on the counts related to public calls or the rehabilitation of Nazism.
In addition to the prison term, the court barred him from posting any information online for four years.
