The Hague court issued a final ruling to pay 50 billion dollars to former shareholders of the Yukos company.

In The Hague, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands issued a final ruling, rejecting Russia's cassation appeal and affirming the payment of 50 billion dollars to the former shareholders of Yukos. This information was disseminated by the court's press service.

Back in 2014, the international arbitration court in The Hague ruled that Russia must compensate the losses of the former shareholders—companies Hulley Enterprises, Veteran Petroleum, and Yukos Universal. The basis for this decision was the recognition that in the early 2000s, Russian authorities carried out an illegal nationalization of Yukos, following the arrest of Mikhail Khodorkovsky. The Russian side repeatedly attempted to challenge this verdict.

Khodorkovsky described the court decision as a "personal victory" and a "final resolution of all claims <...> from Putin's 'law enforcers'." In his statement, he expressed gratitude to those who dedicated 20 years to this struggle, particularly noting his friend Leonid Nevzlin. According to him, this has been the most significant blow to the Putin regime within the legal framework.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on terrorism against Mikhail Khodorkovsky and 22 participants of the "Anti-War Committee of Russia." Among those involved are Kirill Martynov, editor-in-chief of "Novaya-Europe," and politician Dmitry Gudkov.
