France played in a third-place match for the fourth time. The French team had previously finished third in 1958 and 1986.
After this game, France captain Kylian Mbappe moved into first place on the list of the highest scorers in World Cup history. He now has 22 goals, more than Lionel Messi, who has 21.
The final is set to be played between Argentina and Spain. Kickoff is scheduled for 22:00 Moscow time on July 19.
