Teenager from Krasnoyarsk sentenced to 6.5 years in a juvenile penal colony in school attack preparation case

The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced a minor from Krasnoyarsk to six and a half years in a juvenile penal colony in a case over preparing an attack on a school. The court’s press service reported this.

According to investigators, the schoolgirl considered herself a “follower” of the nonexistent Columbine movement and, security officials claim, shared its “goals and views.” Investigators say she was planning an armed attack and a mass killing at a school in Krasnoyarsk in February 2026.

The court’s statement says that for the planned attack she purchased the “necessary equipment” and attended a sports shooting club, where she acquired “basic” firearms skills. The court also said she had a manifesto describing her intention to carry out a mass killing and a plan of movement through the school building.

According to the court, the girl was also communicating in a messenger app with an “unidentified person” who promised to provide her with a homemade bomb, a firearm, and ammunition. The court said she was detained before she could carry her “criminal intent” through to the end.

She was found guilty of preparing a terrorist attack and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. The court’s statement does not specify when exactly she was detained.

The report also referred to other attacks in the region. In February 2026, an eighth-grade girl in Krasnoyarsk was placed in pretrial detention after an attack on School No. 153 in the Pokrovsky district: on February 4, investigators said, she set fire to a restroom and a math classroom during a lesson and struck students fleeing the room with a hammer. Five students and one teacher were injured. A day earlier, a seventh-grade girl attacked a teacher with a knife at a school in Kodinsk, but wounded another student instead.
