A nighttime Russian attack on a prison facility in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region left at least 16 dead and 35 wounded, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov.
Fedorov reported that Russian forces conducted eight separate strikes on Zaporizhzhia district overnight, likely using aerial bombs. One attack targeted a local detention center, damaging both the prison buildings and nearby residential homes.
Russian officials have not responded to allegations about the assault on the correctional facility. No visual evidence from the attack site has yet emerged.
Separately, Russian forces struck the Kamensky, Sinelnikovsky, and Nikopol districts of Dnipropetrovsk region overnight. Regional military administration head Serhiy Lysak stated these attacks killed three people and wounded seven others, including a pregnant woman. Two of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.
