According to TASS, citing the regional office of Rosselkhoznadzor, 89 people with signs of poisoning were admitted to hospitals in Ulan-Ude.
All the victims had consumed shawarma and onigiri purchased from stores of the "Nikolaevsky" chain. As of the morning of October 20, 55 people, including 34 children, remained hospitalized. Eleven patients were diagnosed with salmonellosis.
The products that caused the poisoning were manufactured by the local enterprise "Vostok."
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code — production and sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements. The Investigative Committee has charged the head of the finished food products workshop (her name has not been disclosed).
As reported by the publication "7x7," the "Nikolaevsky" retail chain is owned by the "BIN" group of companies, associated with the Badanov family. Among its founders is former deputy of the People's Khural of Buryatia, Alexander Badanov.
