A 17-year-old Roma youth from Korkino, Yegor Yurchenko, has been sentenced to nine years and ten months in prison by the Chelyabinsk Regional Court for killing taxi driver Elena Sarafanova in October 2024, as reported by 74.ru and URA.ru.

Yurchenko was convicted under Part 1 of Article 105 (murder) and Part 1 of Article 166 (vehicle theft) of the Criminal Code. The court also ordered him to pay 164,000 rubles in compensation to the victim's family and an additional two million rubles to her mother.

Prosecutors allege that on October 23, 2024, Yurchenko was a passenger in Sarafanova's taxi when an argument broke out. The investigation claims he then stabbed the driver and stole her car.
