The coming one to two days will prove decisive in shaping whether Israel's tensions with Iran find a diplomatic resolution or prompt U.S. President Donald Trump to authorize military action, according to ABC News sources.

While public statements suggest otherwise, Washington officials involved in diplomatic efforts maintain that Iran could still reengage in negotiations to finalize a nuclear agreement, the outlet reported. Should Tehran resume talks and halt uranium enrichment, ABC's sources indicate a potential meeting this week between Iranian representatives and Trump's special envoy Steve Whitkoff, possibly including U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

Meanwhile, CBS News reported that Trump is weighing the option of supporting Israeli strikes against Iran. Sources familiar with the discussions noted that any U.S. military involvement could target Iranian nuclear sites, such as the Fordow enrichment facility.

These deliberations reportedly took place during a June 17 meeting between Trump and the National Security Council in the White House Situation Room. However, CBS sources revealed divisions among the president's top advisors regarding potential intervention.

Amid these developments, The New York Times cited sources stating that Iran has readied missiles and military assets for potential strikes on U.S. bases in the Middle East. Additionally, Tehran may mine the Strait of Hormuz to obstruct American naval movements in the Persian Gulf if Washington enters the conflict.
