Activist Nadine Geisler (legal name Nadezhda Rossinskaya) has received a 22-year prison sentence in a penal colony for state treason, according to RusNews. The court additionally imposed a fine of 320,000 rubles, though prosecutors had sought a 27-year term.
The ruling was delivered by Judge Oleg Shishov, who previously presided over the case of schoolboy Arseny Turbin, sentenced to five years for alleged involvement with a "terrorist organization."
Charges against Geisler include "inciting actions against state security," "advocating terrorist activities," and "state treason." Investigators claim she solicited donations for Ukraine's Azov battalion in August 2023 - a group Russia designates as terrorist.
Geisler maintains her innocence. Mediazona reports her defense lawyer Anton Prisny highlighted critical gaps in the prosecution's case: investigators failed to identify either the IP address used for the alleged posts or the websites involved. No evidence was presented proving Geisler actually transferred funds to Azov.
A Belgorod region resident, Geisler previously assisted Ukrainian refugees through the "Army of Beauties" volunteer network. Authorities arrested her in February 2024 upon her return from Georgia.
