The Aeroflot Group anticipates taking delivery of 108 MS-21 aircraft by 2030, with an additional 92 units expected by 2033, as stated by CEO Sergey Alexandrovsky at SPIEF.
Originally in 2022, the airline planned to introduce 339 new Russian-made planes, including Sukhoi Superjet 100 and Tu-214 models. However, by 2024, the company shifted its strategy to focus entirely on the MS-21. Alexandrovsky emphasized at SPIEF that Aeroflot remains committed to its fleet expansion, with the remaining 139 MS-21s to be acquired at a later stage.
Industry insiders cited by Kommersant question whether Aeroflot genuinely expects to receive the full number of aircraft outlined in the agreement. Some speculate this move may be a strategic effort to maintain priority access for incorporating foreign-made planes into its fleet if needed.
Under the broader aviation industry development program, production targets include 270 MS-21s, 142 Sukhoi Superjet 100s, and 115 Tu-214s by 2030.
