Aleksey Tretyakov, former mayor of Tchaikovsky town in Perm Region, has been freed from Ukrainian detention as part of a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine following the "1,000 for 1,000" exchange agreement. Regional Human Rights Commissioner Igor Sapko confirmed the release.

The ex-mayor had been held captive since late 2023, according to the ombudsman. Sapko noted that Tretyakov served with the Chechen "Akhmat" battalion during the conflict in Ukraine.

Tretyakov recounted enlisting on September 7, 2023, only to be wounded soon after near Kleshcheyevka. He lost consciousness and later awoke in Ukrainian custody. His account was shared in a video posted by the Telegram channel "Do not wait for me from Ukraine."
