Users in Russia reported disruptions in access to the Apple and Google websites. The complaints were recorded by the monitoring services Detector404 and Sboy.rf, which track problems reaching online resources.
Later, by 12:10 Moscow time on July 14, the Apple, Google and GitHub sites became accessible again from Russia. This was reported by Kod Durova. The same information was also confirmed by Detector404 and Sboy.rf. According to the available data, the access problems for Russian IP addresses lasted about one hour.
Judging by user comments, during the outage the websites and apps either failed to open entirely or worked only when a VPN was used. Complaints also indicated that GitHub, the hosting platform for IT projects, had become unavailable.
The reasons for what happened remain unknown. Roskomnadzor had not commented on the situation at the time of publication.
“It seems Google, GitHub and Apple were blocked in Russia. The fact that this is not just some outage is suggested by the simultaneous unavailability and the indication that these are specifically network failures,” the specialized Telegram channel Heraks wrote.
For now, the services are accessible again, but no official explanation for the brief disruption has yet appeared.
