Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that the country's security forces successfully prevented an attempted coup, according to official statements.

Armenian authorities have uncovered "a major and dangerous scheme by criminal oligarchic clergy to disrupt stability and take control" of the nation, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

According to Armenia's Investigative Committee, opposition group "Holy Struggle" and its head, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, allegedly plotted terrorist acts and an attempted government overthrow.
