The Ukrainian Security Service reported the disruption of a Hungarian military intelligence network operating in the country.
According to the security agencies, the agents were engaged in gathering information about the defense system of Zakarpattia Oblast, identifying vulnerabilities in the region's ground and air defenses, and analyzing political sentiments among the local population.
During a special operation in Zakarpattia, two suspects were detained. They have been charged with high treason under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). If found guilty, they face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The agency established that one of the detainees is a 40-year-old resident of Berehove district who previously served in the military. According to the SBU, his recruitment occurred in 2021, after which he remained in "sleep mode" and began active operations in September 2024.
