Russian authorities are imposing flight restrictions in the area of the Kapustin Yar test site in Astrakhan, where "Oreshnik" missile launches were previously conducted. Data on the airspace closure, published by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on May 8, were noted by Ukrainian monitoring resources and the Telegram channel Varlamov News.
According to the notice, the air traffic ban will be in effect on May 12 and 13 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time. The restrictions apply to all altitudes—from ground level to unlimited height—which, as RBC-Ukraine points out, typically indicates missile tests or launches.
This information follows a warning from the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, which stated on May 9 that a "serious air attack" on Ukraine could occur "in the coming days." As Varlamov News notes, American diplomats issued a similar warning on November 20—the day after Russia first used the "Oreshnik" missile against Dnipro.
