According to the publication Axios, citing informed sources, Volodymyr Zelensky has set a condition for starting direct negotiations with Russia—a 30-day ceasefire from Moscow.
It has been reported that today, the Ukrainian president, along with the leaders of France, Germany, the UK, and Poland, informed Donald Trump that in the event of Russia agreeing to a prolonged cessation of hostilities, Ukraine is ready to engage in direct peace talks.
They also warned the American leader that if Vladimir Putin rejects the proposal for a month-long ceasefire, the European Union will impose additional sanctions against Russia.
One of Axios' sources noted: "Trump, it seems, was pleased" that Ukraine is adhering to the ceasefire regime and does not rule out direct negotiations with Russia. Another interlocutor added that the U.S. president was glad to see support for his plan from European partners and Ukraine.
"Now everything depends on Russia's actions," the source emphasized.
