The court has toughened the sentence for anti-war activist Andrey Trofimov, a participant in Moscow protests, increasing his prison term from 10 to 13 years. The decision was based on his final statement during the initial trial regarding his alleged attempt to join the "Freedom of Russia Legion" and his pro-Ukraine publications, reports Mediazona.
Nearly two years ago during the court hearing, Trofimov refused to plead guilty, endorsed strikes on the Crimean Bridge and the Kremlin, stating: "Ukraine is a victim of Russian aggression and has every right to retaliate against military targets of the aggressor state. Personally, I demand the maximum sentence for myself. I do not wish to live in the same country or walk the same earth as you. You inspire nothing but contempt in me. Sentence me to life. Glory to Ukraine! Putin is a d*ckhead."
These remarks became the basis for initiating a second criminal case. The new verdict under charges of "justifying terrorism" and repeated "discreditation" of the army was delivered in record time—just two days.
