Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated at a regional government meeting that some local residents intentionally leave old cars outside garages, hoping to receive compensation in case of shelling. This was reported by the publication *7x7*.
"Personally, I’ve heard relatives reasoning: since our settlement is under shelling, let’s roll the car out of the garage—maybe it’ll get hit, then at least we’ll get some money. After all, the car is old, it can’t be sold or used. <...> Groups of people are emerging, led by certain individuals. They aim to receive state support without legal grounds," Gladkov explained.
