In the Rostov region, ten former convicts escaped from a military training ground—they were supposed to be sent to the combat zone in Ukraine. This was reported by the publications Donday and 161.RU, citing informed sources.

According to media reports, on the night of May 9, a group of ten contract soldiers left the training ground near Rostov-on-Don, where they were undergoing preparation before deployment to the front. Their absence was discovered when they failed to report for the issuance of military uniforms.

During the day, law enforcement managed to detain four of the escapees as they attempted to leave the region. Later, traces of two more were found, and their detention is currently being prepared. The whereabouts of the others remain unknown for now.

Journalists report that before signing their contracts, all these servicemen had prior convictions for serious crimes, including murder, armed robbery, drug trafficking, sexual violence, and bodily harm.

It is worth recalling that a similar incident occurred in Krasnodar in April—around a hundred servicemen attempted to escape from their unit. Seven of them temporarily managed to evade capture but were later detained.
