Iran is considering the possibility of concluding a nuclear agreement with the U.S. if Washington lifts economic sanctions. According to NBC News, this was stated by Ali Shamkhani, an influential advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Under the proposed terms, Tehran would commit to abandoning the development of nuclear weapons, destroying its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, and limiting enrichment solely for civilian purposes. Iran is also prepared to allow international inspectors to monitor compliance with these obligations. In return, the U.S. must immediately lift all sanctions currently in place against Iran.

When asked whether Iran would sign such an agreement immediately if the stated conditions were met, Shamkhani responded affirmatively. Negotiations between Washington and Tehran over the nuclear program have been ongoing for several weeks.

As NBC notes, Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, described the recent talks in Oman as "encouraging." Details of the discussions remain confidential.
