A Ukrainian-made unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into a nine-story residential building on Soyuznaya Street in Kursk. As reported by acting regional governor Alexander Khinstein in his Telegram channel, a 45-year-old woman was killed in the incident.
According to the regional head's statement provided to TASS news agency, at least 12 people, including a child born in 2010, sustained injuries of varying severity. Later, the Investigative Committee clarified that the number of injured had risen to 17. A criminal case has been initiated under the article on terrorism (paragraph "b" of Part 3, Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code).
Khinstein also noted that the residential building struck by the drone sustained significant damage. The fire that broke out on the top four floors due to the drone impact has now been extinguished. Additionally, the shockwave damaged window panes in nearby buildings and a school.
