The Investigative Committee has completed the investigation into the first criminal cases regarding the simulation of injuries in the 83rd Separate Guards Air Assault Brigade. The relevant information was published by the newspaper "Kommersant."

According to the investigation, 35 servicemen were involved in the scheme, inflicting gunshot wounds on each other while avoiding damage to vital organs. For these artificially sustained injuries, they received over 200 million rubles from the state budget, as well as state awards—the Order of Courage and medals "For Courage."

One of the key figures was the head of the brigade's special operations group, Konstantin Frolov, known by the call sign "Executioner." Under this scheme, he inflicted wounds on himself four times. Frolov was arrested in June 2024, pleaded guilty, and testified against his fellow servicemen, including the unit commander—Colonel Artyom Gorodilov, who was also detained shortly afterward. Both servicemen requested to be sent to the Special Military Operation zone, but their petitions were denied.
