The Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a proposal to recognize billionaire Denis Shtengelov as an extremist. He was previously the owner of the Zimnyaya Vishnya (Winter Cherry) shopping mall.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia has filed a lawsuit with the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow against billionaire Denis Shtengelov and his father Nikolai, demanding that they be recognized as extremists. This information appeared on the portal of Moscow courts, as reported by Mediazona.

According to the case file, the basis for the lawsuit is the dissemination of extremist materials. Which specific materials are being referred to has not been disclosed.

Denis Shtengelov is a co-owner of JSC "Konditerus Kom," which owns the food holding KDV Group. The company produces confectionery and snacks under the brands "Kirieshki," "Yashkino," "Babkiny Semechki," BeerKa, and others. Additionally, Shtengelov owns the discount store chain "Yarche" and the football club "KDV."

Previously, the businessman was among the co-owners of the Zimnyaya Vishnya (Winter Cherry) shopping mall, where a major fire occurred in 2018, claiming the lives of over 60 people.

Since 2008, Shtengelov has been residing in Australia. According to Forbes' estimate as of April 2025, his fortune amounts to 1.4 billion dollars.
