At the age of 91, Italian designer Giorgio Armani has passed away, reports the publication La Repubblica.
"It is with deep sadness that the Armani Group announces the death of its creator, founder, and tireless inspiration Giorgio Armani," states the brand's official announcement.
The cause of the designer's death has not been disclosed. According to press reports, he was recovering at home after a hospital stay.
Giorgio Armani was an Italian couturier and the creator of the fashion house Giorgio Armani. He began his career in the 1970s and founded his own brand in 1975. Armani transformed the perception of the classic men's suit and established the possibility for women to wear business suits.
In 2023, he ranked second among the wealthiest people in Italy, with his fortune estimated at approximately 13 billion euros.
