According to data from Novaya-Evropa, between 2021 and 2025, the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) funded 43 projects dedicated to fundamental medicine and related to the study of aging. For comparison, only seven such initiatives were supported in 2016-2020.
As stated on the foundation's official website, this year the volume of grants under the main program ranges from four to seven million rubles annually, with the possibility of extending funding for one or two years. In 2017, standard grants were smaller—from three to six million rubles.
If relying on the minimum estimates of allocated amounts, RSF funding for aging research could have increased from 21 million rubles in 2016-2020 to 172 million rubles in 2021-2025. Moreover, the actual difference may be even more significant.
