A Russian-made unmanned aerial vehicle crossed the border into Romania. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense of Romania.

The incident occurred the day before at approximately 18:00 local time, following strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian infrastructure targets in the Danube region. In response, the Romanian side scrambled a pair of F-16 fighter jets.

The aircraft detected the drone and escorted it until it "disappeared from radar" near the settlement of Kiliya-Veke on the Danube. No fragments of the vehicle were found.

As Romanian authorities emphasized, the drone "did not fly over residential areas and did not pose a direct threat to civilians."

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the vehicle penetrated approximately 10 kilometers into Romanian territory and remained in the airspace of the NATO member country for about 50 minutes.

Earlier this week, a significant number of Russian drones violated Polish airspace, after which 43 countries, including the United States, issued a joint statement condemning Russia's actions.
