According to the report of the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip are classified as genocide.
The Commission determined that Israeli authorities and armed forces committed four of the five acts recognized as genocide under the 1948 UN Convention. These include killing, causing serious bodily or mental harm, deliberately creating living conditions aimed at the physical destruction of Palestinians in whole or in part, and imposing measures intended to prevent births.
Additionally, during the IDF military operations in Gaza, the Commission identified the imposition of a total siege leading to starvation due to the blocking of humanitarian aid, systematic destruction of local healthcare and educational infrastructure, regular acts of sexual violence, and targeted attacks on children.
