During the military operations in Ukraine, a former convict who had served his sentence in a Kirov correctional colony was killed. During his lifetime, he repeatedly reported being subjected to torture.

Marcel Amirov, a resident of the Ulyanovsk region who had previously reported the use of torture in Kirov's penal colony No. 6 "Black Woodpecker," died during military operations in Ukraine. Information about his death at the front was shared by the administration of the Pavlovsky district via the social network VKontakte, which was later noted by the publication Novaya Gazeta Europe.
