The Gagarin Court of Moscow has placed politician Leonid Gozman under arrest for two months as part of a new criminal case initiated under the article on "justification of terrorism" (Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code). This information was reported by the publication Novaya Gazeta Europe.

The reasons for initiating the case remain unclear. Representatives of Novaya Gazeta Europe attempted to obtain a comment from Gozman, but he refused to communicate. The politician has not been in contact with journalists for a year.

Shortly before this, Gozman was again placed on the international wanted list. He had been listed in the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs database since early 2024 in connection with a criminal case on spreading "fakes" about the Russian army.

In July 2024, the politician was sentenced in absentia to 8.5 years in a penal colony on charges of publishing unreliable information about military operations (clause "d," part 2, Article 207.3 of the Russian Criminal Code).

The basis for initiating that criminal case was two of Gozman's Facebook posts: in one, he stated that "the events in Bucha increase the risk of world war," and in the other, he suggested that the shelling of Russian villages is carried out by the Russian army.
