The governments of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have officially announced their recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was the first to make such a statement. He emphasized that this decision is intended to contribute to "building a peaceful future for both Palestine and Israel."
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese noted that Hamas should not participate in Palestine's future. Additionally, he pointed to the necessity of implementing reforms and holding democratic elections.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer explained that this step is aimed at facilitating conflict resolution. He also announced an order to impose sanctions against Hamas representatives to limit the movement's capabilities.
