Former State Duma deputy from the LDPR Yuri Napso has become a defendant in a criminal case under the article on rape of his assistant (Part 1 of Article 131 of the Russian Criminal Code). The relevant information was disseminated by the publication "Kommersant."
According to the newspaper, the case against Napso was initiated the day before by an investigator for particularly important cases from the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Moscow, who specializes in crimes against state power and in the economic sphere. Napso has the status of a suspect in the case and has been declared wanted.
According to the investigation materials, the incident occurred on March 22, 2023, when Napso committed violent acts against his assistant, who was 19 years old at the time. A few days after the incident, he traveled to Minsk, from where he then went to Yerevan. Since April 2023, the politician has not returned to Russian territory.
Yuri Napso held the position of State Duma deputy from the LDPR from 2007 to 2025. In media publications, he was often referred to as the "wallet" of the late party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
His deputy mandate was terminated in April of this year due to the fact that since April 2023, Napso had ceased participating in Duma sessions. The State Duma separately noted that he has been living in the United Arab Emirates for about two years. Napso himself explained that he is in the UAE for treatment.
