In the Krasnodar Territory, the acting deputy governor and ataman of the Kuban Cossack Host, Alexander Vlasov, was detained. The publication 93.RU disseminated the relevant information, citing its sources.

According to journalists, the official is accused of embezzling funds on an especially large scale intended to support participants of the military operations in Ukraine. Law enforcement agencies are conducting a search of his office.

As per a source from 93.RU, Vlasov's subordinates allegedly falsified documents to cover up traces of illegal activities. At the same time, volunteer Cossacks faced a severe shortage of uniforms and equipment, forcing them to purchase it themselves.

Earlier in the morning, Vlasov announced at a meeting of the regional Council of Atamans his intention to go to the combat zone in Ukraine. Following this, he was relieved of his duties as vice-governor of the Krasnodar Territory.

"For me, it is a great honor to serve the Fatherland and be its loyal son. <…> I have decided to join our 'Kuban' brigade to carry out tasks as part of the special military operation," the official stated.
