For a week now, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is under the control of the Russian military, has been without external power and is operating on diesel generators, as reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He specified that one of the generators recently stopped working. According to the Ukrainian leader, Russian shelling is hindering the restoration of power lines, and he described the situation as "critical."

"This is a threat to absolutely everyone. No terrorist in the world has ever allowed themselves to do to a nuclear power plant what Russia is doing now. And it is right that the world is not silent," Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, the Russian-appointed head of the ZNPP communications department, Yevgenia Yashina, reported that all diesel generators are operating normally and the situation is fully under control. She claims that the shelling of the plant is being carried out by Ukrainian, not Russian, military.

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has called on Russia and Ukraine to work together to restore the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
