TV Rain journalist Anna Mongait has received an in-absentia sentence of five years in a penal colony. The basis for the punishment was her publications concerning military actions in Ukraine and negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

The Moscow Presnensky Court issued an in absentia verdict to Dozhd TV channel journalist Anna Mongait, sentencing her to five years in a general regime colony in the case of military "fakes" (Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, paragraph "d"). This information was disseminated by the publication Mediazona, citing its correspondent who was present in the courtroom.

Additionally, the court imposed a three-year ban on Mongait from administering websites. During the judicial debates, the state prosecutor had previously sought an eight-year prison sentence in a general regime colony for the journalist.
