A new criminal case has been opened against former Minister for Open Government Affairs Mikhail Abyzov — this time on charges of large-scale fraud. This information was reported by RBC and Kommersant publications.
The Tverskoy District Court decided to arrest Abyzov for two months to conduct investigative activities in Moscow. The essence of the new charges is not disclosed in the publications.
Earlier, in mid-September, information emerged about Abyzov's transfer from a strict-regime colony to one of Moscow's pre-trial detention centers.
In December 2023, he was sentenced to 12 years in a strict-regime colony on multiple charges: creating a criminal organization, fraud, money laundering, commercial bribery, and illegal business activities.
Mikhail Abyzov served as Minister for Open Government Affairs from 2012 to 2018 and was taken into custody in 2019.
