The Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John M. Martinis. The relevant information is posted on the official portal of the Nobel Committee.

The prize was awarded for the discovery of macroscopic quantum-mechanical tunneling and energy quantization in an electrical circuit.

Earlier, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was received by researchers from the United States and Japan for studying immune mechanisms. As reported by AFP citing a friend of the scientist, the committee was unable to contact one of the laureates—Fred Ramsdell—who is traveling "far from civilization" and, according to the acquaintance, is "living his best life."

In 2024, the awards were given to John J. Hopfield of Princeton University (USA) and Geoffrey E. Hinton of the University of Toronto (Canada). The researchers were recognized for fundamental discoveries and developments that enabled machine learning based on artificial neural networks. Both laureates worked in the field of statistical physics.
