A ceasefire has been reinstated in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

"Following the directives of the political leadership and after a series of powerful retaliatory strikes against violations by Hamas, the IDF has resumed adherence to the ceasefire under the terms of the agreement," stated the Israeli side.

The IDF also emphasized that any violations of the ceasefire will be met with a "decisive response."

On October 19, the Israeli military conducted airstrikes on Rafah in the Gaza Strip in response to an attack on Israeli forces in the area, as reported by The Times of Israel. According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Civil Defense Agency, at least 45 people were killed as a result.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, brokered by the United States, came into effect on October 10. On October 13, Hamas released 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
