In the Moscow Metro, law enforcement agencies have begun detaining young men of conscription age and sending them to the assembly point located on Ugreshskaya Street. This information is confirmed by human rights associations "Civil Alliance of Russia," "Conscript School," "Go by the Forest," and "Call to Conscience."
According to a report by CAR, a 19-year-old conscript was detained at the "Timiryazevskaya" station, handcuffed, and forcibly taken to Ugreshskaya Street. He was not served a summons, with authorities citing his failure to appear on a previous call. The organization clarified that activists had previously appealed the decision to conscript this young man.
The publication cites a threat made against him: since he refused to undergo a medical examination voluntarily, a colonel was allegedly supposed to come for him and take him to serve at the border.
The "Conscript School" organization reports a similar case involving the detention of their ward at the "Shosse Entuziastov" station. The young man was taken to a screening room at "Perovo," interrogated, and after several hours transferred to a police station, where he spent over five hours before being released.
Human rights activists emphasize that this young man has been diagnosed with a chronic skin condition since childhood, which he believed could be grounds for exemption from military service. However, in the spring of this year, a medical commission deemed him fit for service. A complaint filed in April regarding this decision has yet to receive a response.
Representatives of "Call to Conscience" in a conversation with "Important Stories" noted that they are aware of a number of similar detentions in the metro using facial recognition systems. According to a CAR client, around 20 young men detained in a similar manner are with him at the assembly point.
The "Go by the Forest" organization also reports detentions of conscripts at the transfer between "Novokuznetskaya" and "Tretyakovskaya" stations, as well as at "Kiyevskaya," "Volzhskaya," and "Barrikadnaya." Several detained passengers were sent to the same assembly point on Ugreshskaya Street.
