The Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a proposal to recognize entrepreneurs from Chelyabinsk, Alexander and Andrey Makhonin, their relatives, and associates as an "extremist association." Simultaneously, the agency demanded the confiscation of their property in favor of the state. This information, citing a statement submitted to the Sovetsky District Court of Chelyabinsk, was published by the newspaper "Kommersant."
The list of assets subject to seizure includes commercial enterprises with a total value of 2.5 billion rubles, 109 real estate properties, and 12 vehicles.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the Makhonin brothers adhere to the ideology of the international movement "Arestantskoye Ugolovnoye Yedinstvo" (A.U.E.). In the 1980s–1990s, they and their associates were held accountable for committing violent crimes.
The supervisory agency believes that the businessmen subsequently applied their "criminal experience" to form an organized group. According to the investigation, the Makhonins' followers engaged in extortion, robbery, assault, and intimidation of citizens.
