The Latvian parliament has decided to withdraw the country from the Istanbul Convention, aimed at combating violence against women.

During the second and final reading, deputies of the Latvian parliament (Saeima) after lengthy debates voted for a bill providing for the country's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention on preventing violence against women. This was reported by the publication Delfi.
