A deputy representing Tolyatti has left the ranks of United Russia amid a scandal that has erupted. The reason was his wife's decision to travel to Chile to give birth so that their child would obtain a more substantial citizenship in legal terms.

Alexander Dorozhkin, a deputy of the Tolyatti City Duma who previously represented United Russia, has left the party and been relieved of his positions within it. This decision followed the publication of a video on social media in which his wife shares the story of giving birth to their child in Chile. The information was disseminated by State Duma deputy Yevgeny Revenko.
